ROOT CANAL
Root Canal Treatment (endodontic procedure) is a common dental procedure which is carried out when the decay has progressed or is progressing rapidly towards the pulp (vital tissue) of the tooth. Root Canal Treatments are pain-free procedures with anaesthesia being administered at every visit or as needed. The dentist gains access into the canal/s of the tooth by clearing up the decay and goes on to clean the infected pulp with the help of endodontic instruments. Furthermore, the canals are filled with a rubber-like material called GuttaPercha and a permanent filling is placed into the cavity. A root canal treatment is generally done in 3 visits at a time interval of about 4 weeks each. Root canal treated teeth are required to be crowned (capped) to regain the entire strength and function. This treatment helps save teeth from being extracted and has great success rates.
At Gosnells Dental Centre our dentists work with great precision and competency striving to achieve the best possible results of the treatment and every patient is kept well informed with regard to the progress of the treatment.
